Work under good lighting so you can see clearly, and make sure to frequently flush the comb with running water. After combing hair, shampoo and rinse twice, thoroughly clean the towel and the comb. Use this remedy every day for a week.

2. Essential Oils

Various essential oils have proven to assist reduce lice with the help of combing, including nutmeg,  red thyme, peppermint, cinnamon,  clove, eucalyptus, neem, & lavender. Always check for allergies before using a new essential oil.

Add between 3 and 10 drops of essential oil to 2 oz. Of olive oil, then leave it sitting on the scalp overnight, for at least 12 hours. Paint everything, then shampoo twice.

3. Garlic

The strong perfume of garlic can smother the lice, eventually, kill them.

Grind eight to ten cloves of garlic into a paste and mix in two to three teaspoons of lime juice. Apply the mixture thoroughly to the scalp. Leave it for half an hour, then rinse the hair with warm water.

Alternatively, you can make a thick paste by combining fresh garlic juice with cooking oil, lemon extract, green tea and shampoo and conditioner.

Put the hair well with the paste and cover your scalp with a towel or a shower cap for about half an hour. Then wash your hair with your regular shampoo. Repeat this remedy every week for one to two months.

4. Olive Oil

Olive oil will effectively choke and kill head lice.

Apply any kind of olive oil to your hair generously before going to bed. Put a shower cap or a towel over your head to keep the oil on your hair at night. In the morning, paint the little parasites and wash your hair with a herbal shampoo containing tea tree oil.

Another option is to mix half a cup of olive oil with the half-cup of conditioner and add liquid soap. Apply this solution to your hair and let it work for an hour.

Then, rinse your hair and apply a conditioner. Paint your hair thoroughly to remove the dead lice. Repeat this remedy after one week to get the best results.

Baby oil can choke the lice. To use this method, put the baby oil on the hair, then paint the hair slowly as the lice fall off the head. Use hot water and a shampoo to wash the hair after treatment.

Before bedtime, apply white vinegar to the hair and use a towel or shower cap to cover the hair overnight. In the morning, use a regular shampoo to wash the hair.

6. Nit Comb

For children under two years, comb the wet hair with a fine-toothed nail comb. For best results, paint while the hair is damp and contains a conditioner. Paint hair twice per session for 3-4 days.

7. Salt

Salt can also be used to eradicate head lice by dehydration.

  • Mix carefully a quarter cup of salt and a quarter of vinegar.
  • Gently spray the solution onto your hair so it becomes slightly damp. Put on a shower cap and leave it for about two hours.
  • Then wash and condition your hair.
  • Repeat it every three days to get positive results.

8. Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly can have a stifling effect on itinerant lice.

  • Apply a thick layer of Vaseline on the scalp before going to bed.
  • Cover your head well with a shower cap or a towel. Leave it overnight.
  • In the morning, use baby oil to remove vaseline.
  • Comb your hair thoroughly to remove the lice.
  • Repeat these several nights in a row.

9. Vaseline, Mayonnaise or Coconut Oil

Use petroleum jelly, mayonnaise or coconut oil to saturate the scalp and hair, then cover the head with a shower cap for 12-24 hours.

  • Heat the shower cap, then shampoo the hair without wetting it.
  • Cover the scalp for 30 minutes to allow the oil to break down, then rinse the hair thoroughly and comb it.
  • Pass through the hair section with the comb, and make sure to regularly flush with hot water.
  • Shampoo hair without water once again, and wear a shower hat overnight to prevent the lice from coming back.

10. Tree Tea Oil

The tea tree essential oil is a natural insecticide, which makes it an effective treatment for head lice.

  • Mix a teaspoon of tea tree oil, an ounce of natural shampoo and three tablespoons of coconut oil or olive oil.
  • Apply the solution gently into your hair and cover the head with a shower cap or a towel.
  • Let your head cook for half an hour, then rinse thoroughly with hot water.
  • Finally, paint your hair while it is still damp to remove the dead lice.

Note: Don’t apply the tea tree oil directly into your scalp.
